Tea for Two?

>> Saturday, February 28, 2009

So today we went out to dinner with the family and we had a bunch of fun, and afterwards we went out for some coffee and cheesecake. I had some oreo cheesecake which was awesome! I grabbed my dad's coffee and placed it on the table in front of my so I could take this shot. I didn't want to place the glass directly in the center of the frame, so I moved it a little and let it get partially cut off. I like the result, especially the overall warm feeling. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Can She Feel Me?

>> Friday, February 27, 2009

So today Madison was having so much fun playing with the cat through the door. I just had to grab my camera, and I know that Madison LOVES the camera. This was the first shot that I took. All I had to do was call her name and the first thing she does when she sees the camera is smiles. I just loved this shot because it was so sweet and natural! I had to make this photograph black and white because the colors were just a little too distracting. Black and white can make almost any picture better because it lets the photograph really shine through without any distractions. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

"Let the light shine through.."

So today was my class trip to NYC!! I just LOVE New York, and everything about it. We went to the UN and the Museum of Modern Art. I thought the UN was slightly boring, but I really liked MoMA. I took this picture while we were in the museum, and we were SO tired because we had been walking around the city all morning! We all just wanted to lie down in the middle of the museum and fall asleep! I just love the shadows and silhouettes in this shot! I thought that it was really cool that I was shooting strangers so I couldn't tell them how to pose or anything, so it was completely natural. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Draw the Curtain

>> Wednesday, February 25, 2009

So today I was walking around the house with my telephoto lens again, and the weirdest thing caught my eye.. the shower curtain! I really liked how the sun was shining through the window and hitting the edges of the folds. I had to lean my camera against the door so that I could reduce the camera shake slightly. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Tie Up the Sun

>> Tuesday, February 24, 2009

So today I decided to go outside once again.. call me crazy! I used my telephoto lens so I didn't have to go outside that far, and I could stay pretty much inside with the door open. I have felt like taking lots of pictures of the sunset for the past couple days, and today I actually get to use one of them!! I LOVEE how the sun created a line around the rope in this picture. Well I hope I come up with some more creative ideas pretty soon, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Another picture from today:

Sun Bokeh

>> Monday, February 23, 2009

So today I decided to go outside to take a shot because most of the snow has melted. I really liked how the sun looked so I laid on the grass and took a shot looking towards the shed. I wanted there to be a line of focus going across the grass, and that is what I got. I also really like the color tones in this picture because they are really warm, when it was actually really cold outside. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Over the Rainbow

>> Sunday, February 22, 2009

So I finally got this shot done! I had made three complete attempts to get this shot, and I don't mean three separate shots, I mean three separate days of shooting this subject. I finally just gave up and used the pop up flash on my camera which I didn't think would have worked. I then played with the levels in Aperture and the background slowly disappeared!! That is the most important part of taking pictures of smoke.. when taking these pictures, you want the smoke to contrast against a completely solid background, and that is what I got :D I took this picture into photoshop to add the rainbow color, and it was actually pretty easy! Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

"Heaven is a large blue sky.."

>> Saturday, February 21, 2009

So today we went to church in the late afternoon because there was a mass dedicated to my uncle who recently passed away. Although it was freezing outside, I managed to get my hand out of my pockets and snap a picture while we were walking up to the door. I think one of the best parts of this picture is the blue sky. The blue is so vibrant and it has such an awesome contrast to the church building. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

"Poets are the ones who write in words.."

>> Friday, February 20, 2009

So today I decided to take another picture dedicated to one of my amazing flickr contacts. This was a really simple picture (to set up.. not take) because all I had to do was to grab a piece of paper with some writing on it so it didn't just look like I was writing on a blank paper, then I had to grab a pencil and pose. The hardest part of this picture was probably pressing the shutter release button and actually taking the picture. I had to pose with my right hand, and hold the camera and press the button with my left hand. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Bring it Down!

>> Thursday, February 19, 2009

So today I decided to go outside and take a picture that had some rain in it, but that didn't happen because the rain had pretty much dried up by the time I got outside. I love the perspective of this shot because it really gives the shot some interest. I also really like the background, because although it is really blurry, you can still clearly see that it is a railing. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Snowy Days..

>> Wednesday, February 18, 2009

So today is snowed AGAIN! This snow is getting really old.. This must be the year that is making up for all those years that it didn't snow a lot. I shot this through a window because I was NOT about to go outside to take this shot. I used my telephoto lens so that I could get in real close to the tree, and so there would be a short depth of field. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Siiiiiiick!

>> Tuesday, February 17, 2009

So I've been sick for a couple days now and it REALLY sucks! My nose has been running so much that I just grabbed a roll of toilet paper, because i was tired of wasting tissue boxes. I am hoping to get over this soon because I don't have the energy to do anything! This was a really easy shot to take because all I had to do was take some of my tissues from the garbage and hold them in front of my camera. I didn't mind that you can see some of my room in the background because it gave some more life in the back and it was blurred anyways. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Bruises in Back!

>> Monday, February 16, 2009

So today I decided to take a shot while I was at the grocery store. I just loved the repetition of the bright colors. I also loved that pop of red in the upper right-hand corner. I had to really adjust the color levels in this picture because the lighting in the grocery store was horrible! The apples almost looked yellowish orange, when they were really bright green. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

"The shell that encloses your own reflection.."

>> Sunday, February 15, 2009

So today I decided to try something different with my picture of the day.. reflections! I took a big piece of glass that I had and I took the shell from another room and placed it in the center of the glass. The glass was lying on a black ottoman, and there was a black backdrop behind the shell so there were no distractions. I shined a light from the side and made sure that there was enough light to get that reflection. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Happy Valentine's Day!!
So today I decided to take a picture of the candies that I think represent Valentine's day the best. I think these candies are disgusting, but I think the saying are kind of funny! This was a simple set up, because I literally dumped some of the candies on my bed sheets and found the one that I liked the best. I put that one out in front and made sure that it was in focused and lit correctly. I really like how that is where your eyes focuses first, and that is what I was ultimately going for. Well I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

I pick you to be my Valentine!

So today while I was watching the kids, Tyler asked me for an apple.. kind of random, but of course I would give him a snack like that! The deal was, if I cut up his apple that he would have to pose for a couple of shots. Of course he agreed (he's used to the camera by now), and I had to tell him that we were taking picture for mommy because that is when he takes his best pictures. I LOVE how his face is all blurry, but you can still make out who it is. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

"Jump over the hurdles, and break though the brick walls"

>> Thursday, February 12, 2009

So today I figured that i should go outside and take a picture because I thought that it would be a little warmer than usual.. NOT! It was very windy outside, so it was freezing! I was trying to take a picture of a tree that I thought would come out better than it actually did, so I turned around and saw the brick wall. I thought that it would make a great picture, especially if there was a short depth of field. I love photographs with a short depth of field, because it makes you focus on one thing and one thing only. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Lollipop [POP] Lollipop!

>> Wednesday, February 11, 2009

So today was Tyler's valentine's day party, and he was just so excited to tell me about it and show me the cards that he got from his friends. To show this in a picture, I grabbed one of our valentine lollipops. Besides the lollipop's color (my favorite color!), I really liked how the background looked with all the lights on it. To make the background, I took Madison's little pink sofa, and hung some Christmas lights on it. I also taped the lollipop to my mini tripod, and then had my camera on another tripod. This was a little bit of a more extensive setup, but I think it was worth it! Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Heat Rises

>> Tuesday, February 10, 2009

So today while I was waiting for the bus, I just needed to take a picture of the sunrise. For a couple days now, it has actually been light out when I am on my way to school. It usually feels like I am leaving for school in the middle of the night when it is actually like 6:30 in the morning. I can't wait for the next daylight savings to come! Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

"Shadow owes its birth to light!"

>> Monday, February 9, 2009

So today I decided to take a picture of our kitchen fan when I was laying on the ground in the kitchen.. don't ask! LOL I like how the light looks when you don't use a flash, and how the lights just seem to pop out of the picture and the rest of the picture just fades into the background. I also really like how warm the picture feels against a stark white background. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

On the road again..

>> Sunday, February 8, 2009

So today was kind of a chill day. I volunteered this morning for an hour, and then we went to Amy's house. It was a very relaxing day, and a great way to spend the end of the weekend. Also I am so excited because our February break starts on Friday!! Although we are not having a full week for the break, it is still five days off from school. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

I've been framed!

>> Saturday, February 7, 2009

So today I finally got frames so that I could hang some of my prints up in my room! I love how they came out, and I just was so excited when I stood back to see how they looked. It was so hard to get them hooked on the nails, because the hooks on the back of the frames were so weird! So show what I did today in a picture, I decided to take a picture of the frames, but in a creative way. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

One step at a time..

>> Friday, February 6, 2009

So today I decided to take a picture of the trees that I always look at outside my window. I had to take a picture through the window because it was WAY too cold outside to take it out there. I used my telephoto lens so that there was a really short depth of field, and therefore a lot of the branches would be blurred. Once I took the shot, I brought it into aperture to liven up the colors. The picture was way to dull to even be called a photograph. Once I bumped up the saturation and exposure, the picture started to come to life. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

"The Sun Sets.."

>> Thursday, February 5, 2009

So today I decided to recreate a picture from one of my flickr contacts. I loved the picture that she did because it showed a quote (different from mine) and about the sun, and it had the sun in the picture. I loved the two things meshed together in one picture without the quote having to be digitally added. Taking a picture of the sun usually results in a lens flare or two, but by putting the paper in front of it, it actually reduced the risk of lens flare. To take the shot I simple printed a quote on a piece of paper and punched a hole for the sun to shine through. Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Textured Cloth

>> Wednesday, February 4, 2009

So today I was walking downstairs when I saw the tablecloth in the kitchen in the corner of my eye. I saw how nice it looked when it was wrinkled and with the sun hitting it. I didn't have my SLR with my so i just used my point and shoot that was in my pocket, and I'm pretty proud of the result. I love the texture in this shot, and I think that it just makes the shot great! Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Rock Solid

>> Tuesday, February 3, 2009

So today I decided to do one of those random pictures, and sometimes those are the best ones. I decided to grab my rocks and I place them on my white backdrop to create some contrast. I then grabbed my light and clamped it on my backpack because it was the closet thing that I could use, and it held the light really close to the rocks (which helped to give the rocks the nice highlights). Well I hope you all had a great day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Happy Groundhog Day!
So because Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow (6 more weeks of winter!!), I decided to play with shadows. I turned off all of the lights in my room and I took this handheld light and placed it on the floor. I was sitting across from a tripod, and used a remote to take the picture. Well I hope you all stay warm for the next 6 weeks, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Happy Super Bowl!
So today I went over my cousin's house to watch the super bowl. Some of the commercials of the super bowl this year were in 3-D, and I think is pretty cool that they can do that! While I was sitting at the kitchen table, I saw the shadow that the glasses were making, and i thought that it was really cool. I placed the camera really low down onto the table, and I took the shot. I wanted to get the camera at about the same level as the glasses, and it worked out pretty well. Well I hope you all had a great super bowl, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.
